Commitment to Inclusion

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion:
The DEI committee of the Rochester Rep Theatre is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment where all voices are celebrated. We aim to actively confront and dismantle the systematic barriers and oppressive structures that exist within the theatre industry and our own organization. Through intentional practices, accountability and continued learning, we strive to build a creative space rooted in justice, representation and belonging.

The cast of A Raisin in the Sun; marking the inaugural outing for the DEI committee in show selection. The committee is responsible for selecting one show each season that reflects an underserved community. While we strive for diversity and inclusion ALL season long, we know making space for this kind of work is important and necessary

Land Acknowledgement:
The Rochester Rep wishes to acknowledge that our theater resides on the native lands of the Dakota Sioux and Ojibwe peoples. We pay our respects to their peoples of the past, as well as future generations.

In an effort to avoid lip service, this acknowledgement will be absent from our curtain speeches as we work to find tangible ways to go beyond a simple verbal statement. We understand the importance and impact of this work, and we as a company are striving to do our part in dismantling systemic racism and prejudice in its many forms.

The city of Rochester is growing, and we want to grow with it. We are working hard to meet the moment and make our work and our theatre community the best it can be
