Plain Hearts

A Musical
Book by Lance S. Belville
Music by Eric Peltoniemi
Directed by Cheryl Frarck

Needed:
  • Women of All Ages

  • First staged by The Great North American History Theater in 1983, Plain Hearts takes us along on the travels of a band of women as they move from town to town in Minnesota, North and South Dakota and Wisconsin, sharing the songs and stories of their grandmothers and great grandmothers in the 1890's to the 1920's. Prepare to laugh and tap your toe on this warm, wonderful journey into the lives of the women who charted our course in history.

The production requires seven women, but since each woman plays several roles, numbers are flexible. All ages and skill levels are invited. Bring a prepared vocal piece (audition accompanist provided) and prepare to read. If you play percussion, guitar, mandolin, violin, piano, harp, etc. please feel free to bring your instrument. Depending on individual schedules, vocal rehearsals may begin July 21, and blocking rehearsals will begin August 4. Generally, rehearsals will be weeknight evenings until after Labor Day.

    Performance Dates:
