Show Synopsis

When suicide is the order of the day, Vincent is a man who can assure the perfect, painless ending. 


In the case of Walter and Celia Bryce, the question is what is the order of the day?  Misunderstandings and failed attempts to carry out the mission at hand leave at least one rubber tree plant in peril...


A show filled with mistaken identities, unsigned suicide notes, an attractive secretary, hilarious consequences, sly wit and laughter!

Production History

Natural Causes premiered on August 18, 1998 with the Archway Theatre Company in Surrey, England.  The Archway troupe traces its history to 1939 and its facilities were built under, and within, an archway supporting a road overpass adjacent to the Horley Railway Station.




The Playwright

English writer Eric Chappell (born 1933) was educated as an accountant but took up full time writing only in 1973 after his first stage play, The Banana Box, was produced at the Apollo Theatre in London. The play later inspired the British TV comedy Rising Damp.  He is the author of several award-winning stage plays and holds numerous accolades for his comedy writing for British televion.

Chappell has written over 200 television comedy scripts and more than 20 stage plays which are performed worldwide.
